Friday Fancies

So, Fridays are very strange for me now. I ended up having off on Thursdays because I was supposed to be doing field work and planned my work/class schedule around that. But it was cancelled. So now I'm off. I'm very glad, but it makes getting up to go to work on Friday mornings reallllly hard.

Friday Fancies

I apologize for a lack of posts this week. Semester has been super busy, and it's only week two. I couldn't do any of my work because my books hadn't come, so I spent allll day today catching up. I hope things will settle down once I get into a routine. But I'm going to a flea market tonight with my mom, so that should be fun.

I have been looking at fall foods all week. I can't wait to start making soups and roasted veggies. I am especially excited for sweet potatoes, which puts this soup at the top of my list.

I really like these chevron nails. I've seen people use those nail stampers before, but I've always been afraid to try them (mostly because I have no patience when it comes to my nails and would give up on it immediately). But these are so cute. I might have to look into it...

Friday Fancies

This week was the first week of classes, and it flew by. Hopefully the rest of the semester goes as quickly, but I doubt it. Except for a couple, most of my classes are blah.

The Purl Bee has some of the cutest knitting patterns I've ever seen. I really want to learn how to knit, but it is really difficult for me for some reason. There was a man sitting next to me on the trolley this week who was knitting, and I was trying to sneakily watch how he did it. If anyone has any beginner's tips, let me know.

I really love vintage stationary, especially Christmas cards. I was looking at them on Etsy (yes, I know it's still August) and these are some of my favorites. My mom got a whole box full at a flea market a little while back, and we spent the day reading all the notes inside. All of the cards were sent to the same person, so it was like a little snapshot of her holidays throughout the years.

I've really been liking leather jackets lately. These three are so far the ones I like best. Of course, my favorite is the first, most expensive, one. But the third faux leather one is pretty adorable too.

This week was my last week of summer before semester starts, and  I was hoping it would be super relaxing butttt no such luck. I did finish a scarf I've been working on and made some progress on another. I'll post pictures next week.

Friday Fancies

This week turned out to be super busy, which is why I haven't posted anything. But I'm looking forward to the weekend to relax and to work on some projects. I also want to come up with a more organized posting schedule that includes specific weekly posts so that things aren't all over the place here. We'll see how that goes. On an unrelated note: I really need a haircut. My bangs are driving me crazy and I don't trust myself to cut them myself. And the sad part is, the place I get my haircut is literally two doors away from me. I just haven't gone over yet. Because apparently I am super lazy.

I just found this blog yesterday, and I really wish I had known about it sooner. There are sooo many lessons and tutorials that would have been really helpful while I was figuring out how to make my white dress.

I have been wanting these boots for ages, but I keep waiting to see if they go on sale. At the end of last winter, I found them for $80, but I still didn't buy them. I wish I had, cause they are a lot more money now. They even had them in the same green as that bag up there. And I've have been looking at them so often on Amazon that now all the ads I see on websites are for these boots. It's like torture.

Friday Fancies

So, I am not home right now. I'm at Avery's parents' house in the middle of the woods. Literally, it is in the middle of the woods. All I see when I look out the windows are trees. Not that I have a problem with trees or anything. I like visiting Avery's parents, it's very quiet and relaxing here. Also, the best pecan pie in the world is located here, and I can never say no to delicious pecan pie. But then I go outside and it's hot and there are bugs. Huge bugs. Like giant black beetles almost three inches long and the biggest ants I have ever seen. Those are the moments when I feel like Charlie. But anyway, here are my Friday Fancies.

I really want these shoes. They look like a tapestry, which, for some reason, I have been liking a lot recently. Last week I bought a pair of tapestry shoes at a thrift store that are sooo cute.

Today I'm going to the Philadelphia Museum of Art and then having a picnic by the Waterworks. It is going to be 93 degrees though, and I am not looking forward to being in the heat. Hopefully it's cooler on the river.  Anyway, onto my Friday Fancies.

Mid-Century Modern furniture is my favorite, and I love this chair. This style is always so expensive, but I have been lucky enough to find some pieces super cheap at thrift stores and yard sales.

These pancakes look so delicious. I love any kind of fruity pancakes, and peaches are one of my favorite fruits.

Friday Fancies

It's finally Friday! This week has been super long, but I'm looking forward to the weekend. My sister and I are going to fabric row to get supplies for refashioning some clothes she found at a thrift store. I'm so excited! But anyway, here are some lovely things I have found and fancy.
